| The concept of adult education has fundamentally changed from "life-long education" to "lifelong learning", which means that the development of the initiative will be given the adults themselves. However, the current examination-oriented education at adult education schools still seriously lags behind the development of the times. Therefore, according to the needs of adult students and the character of their learning, this paper begins to study teaching expectancy of universities adult education students. The teaching expectancy is a style of life education, which in essence requires teachers to respect students' humanity and individual achievement, and then establish a new education idea, pay attention to each student. Starting from adult students' practical experiences, they make choices on their own initiative under the needs of society and individual desire. The reasonable teaching expectancy will create a broad space for the development of adult education.Based on the theory of philosophy, education, psychology, this study analyzes the concept of "teaching expectancy", sums up foreign study results, such as the study of Rosenthal and Brom's teacher expectancy as well as the psychologist Victor H. Vroom's expectancy theory. According to these previous theories and adult character of adult students' learning, I imagine studying adult students' teaching expectancy. Based on the theory of expectancy and its law, this paper analyses current situations of universities adult students' teaching expectancy through the results of the questionnaire. According to the results of investigation, there still exists "teacher-centered" and "examination-oriented" and "teaching-oriented" phenomenon on teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching attitude, teaching effectiveness and teaching evaluation; teaching does not meet students' needs, and teachers lack understanding and communication among them, and there is a big gap between teachers' teaching and students' expectancy; especially universities adult students lowly evaluate teacher's teaching quality, and consider that teachers did not think about students' teaching expectancy. According to students' expectancy and the current problems of adult teaching, teachers should respect students' teaching expectancy, change the concept of teaching, correct misunderstanding—the nature of adult higher education, teaching objectives, professional responsibility; organize teaching process reasonably, and let students to participate in after-school study; choose and organize teaching contents under students' character; establish humanistic relationship between teachers and students; reform teaching methods; improve teaching evaluation, which really test the progress and shortages of students. Finally, this article discusses the defects of universities adult students' teaching expectancy which has been ignored. |
