Since the 20th century, more and more people are agreed with such a view: instruction is the core of education, and the quality of instruction lies in teachers, so the teacher is one of the crucial factors of education. Meanwhile the professional development of teachers is the driving force for all the education reforms. Therefore, the establishment of qualified professional teachers to assure the quality of teaching has been the focus in the world in the 21st century. Peer coaching promotes the teacher professional development through teachers' cooperation, it has combined the guarantee of instruction quality and the promotion of teacher professional development, and ultimately leads to improve students' learning. However, during the process of peer coaching in our country, peer coaching activities have ignored the individual difference. Teacher training can not meet the demand of teachers. And the teachers themselves have been lack of ego-professional development and ability of development. These problems lead to the poor effect of peer coaching. So a suitable peer coaching system is needed to fit the level and the demands of teachers' development, and to promote teachers' initiative development. Through exploring and analyzing American peer coaching strategy, this paper tries to partly solve these problems we met in the process of peer coaching in our country.This Paper is divided into four parts.The first part expounded the engender of American peer coaching system Through analyzing the theoretical and real background of American peer coaching system, it explored the reason and process of the system development in 1980s.The second part discussed the theory construction of American peer coaching system, It circumfused the content of the concept, features, types, function and the theoretical foundation.The third part researched the practice of American peer coaching system. It made a systematic analysis on the principles, processes, conditions and results to the implementation of the system. It also summarized and induced the features of the system operation.On the base of the exploring and analysis on American peer coaching system, and according to the actual situation and problems in China, the fourth part provided some pieces of advices to the implementation of peer coaching in our country. First, Teacher peer coaching should pay attention to the individual difference. Secondly, establishing a school-based research system. Thirdly, creating an atmosphere of equality and cooperation among teachers.
