A Study About College Students' Sexual Intention Based On The P/W Model

The P/W model is applied to predict the individual' risky behavior in the basis of the prototype theory. P/W model holds the view that the similarity between the individual and the prototype can account for the individual's favorability to the prototype. In futher, the favorability can predict the individual 's willingness to follow the prototype's risky behavior. The oritic construction was built according to the result of the previous investigation and the extent researches and the sex attitude scale was made consequently. The credibility and the validity of the sex attitude scale was examined. Then, the similarity questionnarie, favorability scale, Big Five scale and the EMBU were administered to college subjects in an effort to examine the efficiency of the P/W model on predicting the college student's premarital sex willingness. The results are as followed:(1) The sex attitude scale has ideal credibility and validity. Three dimensions are involved and named as traditionalism, openness, love attitude.(2) Individual's similarity with the prototype can predict his favorability to the prototype, but the favoravbility to the prototype can't predict the individual's willingness to attend the premarital sex.(3) Within the mediators, only the sex attitude can predict the individual's willingness to attend the premarital sex. Others failed.(4) There is significant gender difference of willingness to attend the premarital sex.(5) There is significant difference of willingness to attend the primarital sex between the experienced and non-experienced subjects.
