Study motivation and self-concept are significant factors affecting students' learning and development. Study motivation is the intrinsic motivation for students to turn study desires into learning actions; it is an inner motivation to have someone activate and persist in studying. Behavior and experience are adjusted by self, which affects not only one's behavior, thought, and emotion under a specific circumstance, but also the pursuit of one's living goal. The correlations between academic achievement and self-concept, academic self-concept, as well as study motivation have long been a research subject with popular concern for pedagogic psychologists. The research reports with regard to high school students used to be much more than those for college students; and related reports were even fewer for vocational college students. On the other hand, conclusions have been hardly consistent on whether the academic achievement was correlated with self-concept and academic self-concept or not. The characteristics of influence of study motivation on academic achievement have been discussed quite a lot in the past, whereas few studies were conducted regarding the effects of self-concept and academic self-concept upon academic achievement. This study focuses on relationships of self-concept, academic self-concept, and study motivation with academic achievement for vocational college students. The characteristics of influence of self-concept and academic self-concept on academic achievement were also discussed. The primary conclusions of this study are summarized as the following:1,The study motivation of vocational college students falls in the middle range, a little above the mean. Three of the four domains of study motivation are positively correlated with academic achievements. Hankering for capability and interest of studying of the intrinsic motivation is positively correlated with academic achievements (p<.01); Tendency of altruism of exterior motivation is positively correlated with academic achievements (p<.05). The relationship between obtaining reputation and academic achievement is not correlated.2. The academic self-concept of vocational college students falls in the middle range, a little above the mean, but lowers than that of young students. The four domains of the academic self-concept are positively correlated with student achievement, among which academic ability, academic experience, and academic behavior are positively correlated with academic achievement (p<.ol), while academic achievement is positively correlated with academic achievement (p<.05)3. The self-concept of vocational college students is lower than that of the college students. The various domains of self-concept are not correlated with academic achievement.4. The four domains of the academic self-concept of vocational college students are positively correlated with the four domains of study motivation (p<.01) respectively.5. The self-(TOT) of self-concept of vocational college students are positively correlated with the four domains of study motivation (p<.01) respectively.
