The classroom instruction assessment is an important way to promote teacher career development. However, the traditional classroom instruction assessment has sorts of insufficiencies, thus causing great function damage to the development of the classroom instruction assessment of geography. Fortunately, the classroom instruction self-assessment of geography teachers in middle school plays an un-substituted role in both overcoming these insufficiencies and promoting specialized growth of geography teachers.This article takes the new curriculum reform as a background and carries on a discussion emphatically to some related theories on classroom instruction self-assessment of geography teachers in middle schools. Meanwhile, in order to explore the implementation methods of classroom instruction self-assessment of geography teachers in middle school, this article also attempts to construct the criteria for classroom instruction self-assessment, which conforms to the new curriculum idea and is convenient for geography teachers in middle school to refer to as well.This article is divided into three parts:The first part studies the back-ground. It first carries on reflection to the insufficiencies in the traditional classroom instruction assessment of geography. Based on this, it next analyzes the implication, function and significance of classroom instruction self-assessment of geography teachers in middle school. Then, this part further discusses the problems in the classroom instruction self-assessment of geography teachers in current middle school.In the second part, the writer attempts to construct the criteria for classroom instruction self-assessment of the geography teachers in middle school after analyzing the main problems in geography classroom instruction self- assessment in middle school, the new curriculum idea, as well as the role transformation of the geography teachers under the background of new curriculum. Furthermore, in the form of case study, this article explores the study how geography teachers carry on self-assessment in geography classroom instruction from preparations to the implementation and at last to the effects.For the third part, this article discusses some of the limitations of classroom instruction self- assessment of geography teachers in middle school. For example, it will set a high standard for self-discipline of all the geography teachers and sometimes the teachers will probably be at sea about what to do next. Finally, the article puts forward some proposals to the middle school geography teachers : to enhance the morality of profession ,to study the new curriculum idea of geography, to cooperate and communicate more with other geography teachers, to formulate one's own career development plan and the like.
