With the further development of curriculum reform in basic education, the problems of rural primary school teachers' weak consciousness in professional development, their inability to learn, research and cooperate have become more and more apparent. Especially under the circumstances of promoting quality-oriented education, carrying out new courses, and widely applying of multimedia technology, network technology in basic education, it is critical to change teachers' notion, improve their abilities, promote their professional development, and to enhance their professional qualities. Training teachers to achieve professional levels has become one vital task of basic education reform in rural area.This thesis is mainly guided by the principles of teacher's professional development and the theory of formation, with the aid of questionnaires, material consultation, personal interviews and some other research methods. In this paper ,rural primary school teachers in Tianzhu County has been taken as research samples, and comprehensive analysis on their professional quality has been made. Their professional psychic structure and the development requirements of their teaching professional have been discussed to a certain degree. Based on this analysis, the thesis puts forward the strategies for the issue of self-development as the key direction, and sets up the school-based professional development system and educational practice led by effective professional reflection. This thesis attempts to arouse wider and deeper attention and practice on professional self-development in rural primary school teachers. With the hope that these teachers make great progress together with their students under the precious chance of new curriculum reform, and become the practitioner of lifelong education.
