Research On The Performance Appraisal For University Faculty In Our Country

The education takes the leading position of a state, and the teachers are the key subject of education. The universities are the cradle of talent training, and the quality of the talents are determined by the quality of high education, in a way, it relates to the prospect and destiny of a nation. The performance appraisal for university faculty is the main measure for promoting the achievement in teaching and improving the quality of high education. Though the importance of performance appraisal for university faculty is rising in our country, and the system of appraising was created, there are still many faults for lacking of scientific theory for guiding. Therefore, it is a very important research project for human resource management in university that how to establish an efficient and practical appraising system.The contemporary performance appraisal theory and method are applied to the high education in this paper, and the appraisal system for university faculty is created. This paper is divided into six parts. The research actuality all of the world, the purpose and significance of the research and the research methods are expatiated in the first part. Basing on the academic research of appraisal, the function, method, process and characteristic are stated fully in the second part. Aim at the research actuality, the main problems exist at present and their reasons are analyzed in the key parts, part 3 and part 4. At the same time, the suggestion and solution for performance appraisal in university are offered in these parts. Taking X University as the example and the practical instance is analyzed in the fifth part. The conclusion, shortcomings and the next research items are given in the part 6.
