The Rise Of The Space Consumption

The globalization and urbanization led us into a consumer era, but also a space era. In such a backdrop, through observation of the current urban spatial changes in the development of society, we can see the space consumption is rising and dominates daily life. Promoting Urban Development as a new driving force, space consumption which is different from the productivity of the past played, has brought new challenges on the current living space, and it is promoting the shape and reshape of urban, remodeling the structure and class of city and is leading a new direction for development. This is the central idea of this paper and core views. Around this central idea, the article started in three parts described and analyzed.The first part, based on study and understanding of the theory of New Urban Sociology, I define the concept of space and space consumption. Especially for space consumption interpretation of the concept, I distinguish broad and narrow understanding, and note that the main characteristics of the space consumption emerging in the consumer society. Then I reveal the significance of awareness of space consumption.The second part, to answer "What is urban, urban in the end should be like", the paper created a new perspective, namely, space consumption analysis and theoretical perspective. As the theory of the space consumption consider that the nature of urban space is a consume space; the logical structure of cities have two, one is seeking space at the micro level of profit maximization, and the other is the macro level, the pursuit of the rapid growth of cities; the driving force of city for running is space consumption. The basis for the support of these views not only theoretical but also practical observation and analysis of the phenomenon.For an in-depth understanding of space consumption on the impact of urban development, the article also further analyzed the four major space power consumption mechanism. In the specific analysis, we can see how the dynamic mechanism to promote urban development, What are the specific performance etc., and meanwhile examining the mechanism itself including its shortcomings and imperfections.The third part, reflect and criticize the negative impact of space consumption to urban development. In order to eliminate or reduce the harmful effects of it, this paper proposed the building of advice and guidance strategy of system, culture, sustainable development etc. to guide space consumption gradually perfect the mechanisms and rationalizing.
