Who should be the center of moral education? Should teachers or children be it? As everyone knows, ever since education or moral education came into existence, educators and scholars have been searching for the answer to the question. Although it is an ancient issue and there have been plentiful special studies and researches of it ,"teacher-centered"moral education has begun to decline in the contemporary Chinese education. During the course of moral education, some matters such as imperfect substantial results have come forth just because the teachers haven't a distinct and profound understanding of the issue. The special study of the issue will help us to comprehend the basic theory such as the essence and the subjectivity of moral teaching, and enrich and develop the moral teaching and education theory.The thesis is constituted by three parts according to the issue of defending teacher-centered moral education. The first part debates the theme which was discussed for a long time. In this part the primary task is to illuminate the treatise in detail successively wrote by philosophers, E.S and psychologists who may sustain or oppose. After that, there will be an anatomy of the essence and divarication of the two parts of psychologists. Part two focuses on the decline of"teacher-centered"moral education and the reflection on it. First the thesis let us see through the essence of the current situation that children-centered moral education have got the upper hand.Then analyses the reason of the situation and absorbs the reasonable parts of children-centered moral education. In the third part, the thesis mainly expounds and proves the rationalization of teacher-centered moral education in the present socially transforming period. First, the thesis defines and expurgates the concept of"teacher-centered"moral education in the present view. In the cause of moral education, teachers should not only give the students an upward and socially acceptable learning space, passing on moral knowledge and enlightening them, but also have a tolerant and generous approach towards the students'moral pursuit and practice. Then, the thesis defends for the view that"teacher-centered"moral education is possible from theoretic and practical aspects.The thesis may be only a superficial experiment on the discussion of the center of moral education,but the ultimate goal of the thesis is not only analyzing and defending for the teacher-centered moral education but also giving some elicitation to theory and practice and doing some availabilities to the present reform of moral education by means of profound consideration of the basic theory and reasonable elucidation of effective moral teaching.
