Since the 1980s, modern teaching technologies have been more and more widely used in physics classroom instruction. Especially since the beginning of the 21st century, the application of information technology in the classroom teaching has become a notable example in the new round of physics teaching reform. In the "physics curriculum standards (trial version)" , which was promulgated by Ministry of Education of P.R.China in 2003, it is stated that: "Emphasis should be laid on the application of information technology to the physics laboratory, and the development and application of softwares, which are used for physics experiments in secondary schools, such as computer real-time measurement, process of experiments data, analysis of experiment results, should be speeded up."Along with the continuous deepening of the reform, people's attention has been increasingly attracted to the application of information technologies in the field of physics classroom instruction.Information technologies applied in physics classroom instruction being under modern teaching technologies, the theoretical basis of information technologies should be built on the theoretical basis of modern teaching technology. Therefore, the exposition of the theoretical basis of modern teaching technologies is an important component of this paper.Under the guidance of the theories on modern teaching technology and from the perspective of modern teaching philosophy, this paper makes targeted comparative analysis on the application of information technoligies to physics classroom instruction. At the same time, cases of practical application of information technologies to physics classroom instruction are collected and in-depth qualitative analysis on the specific application and on the effect of optimizing teaching are conducted, so as to extract the advantages of their practical application by the means of analysis, comparison and summarization. On this basis, the main teaching functions of information technologies are explored. And also on the basis of modern learning theories, models of application of information technologies in practical physics classroom instruction are also designed in this paper. Finally, the principles and strategies that should be followed in the application of information technology to physics classroom instruction are put forward..
