Study On The Aiding Mechanism Of Needy Students In College

With the overall development of China's education cost-sharing system and the enlargement of enrollment in colleges and universities year by year, the higher education gradually enters the phase of popularization. Accordingly the number of poor college students, one"disadvantaged group", has increased considerably. Poverty of college students is a phasal phenomenon. It only occurs during their study on campus and will be alleviated and eradicated after they graduate and work. Nevertheless, college students are valuable human resources of the country; their educated condition bears a direct relationship to the achievement of national talent strategies, so the problem of poor college students has drawn attention from all walks of life. To help them finish study smoothly, the government high institutions and the whole society have been strenuously exploring and working on it, with remarkable achievements. The current assistance policy system of"scholarship, loan, aid, subsidy and exemption"plays an important role in solving the problem, though defects still exist. This thesis focuses on this group of students. The survey and analysis of poor students'situation in Nan Tong University and Nan Tong Textile Vocational College provide a basis for further evaluating the current assistance policies. This thesis tries to propose suggestions for improving and perfecting the assistance system in Chinese universities and colleges, striving to develop the research conducted so far.This thesis is unfolded along the following line of thoughts: the first chapter, introduction, states the purpose and significance of the selected title. In it are presented the existing condition and related references of research at home and abroad. The methodology features and theoretical basis of this thesis is also stated. In the second chapter, the focus is first directed to the current assistance policy system in universities and colleges. Necessity of perfecting the system is emphasized. The third chapter first surveys the poor students situation in Nan Tong University and Nan Tong Textile Vocational College by using references, questionnaires,interviews and so on. Based on the survey, an analysis is conducted as to the current condition of the poor students'situation and reasons behind their poverty, the assistance system and its execution, the achievements made so far and existing problems. The fourth chapter proceeds from the analysis and reflects on the optimization of the assistance system. Proposed here are four suggestions: complete the assistance policy system, perfect the supervision system of assistance measures, construct"aspiration and education"project, start"development and assistance"project. In recent years, universities and colleges in Nan tong area have attached great importance to assisting poor students. This thesis fans out from point to area, incorporates the concrete measures pursued by the two aforesaid university and college, and integrates research, arguing and data collecting. The thesis strives to reinforce people's reasonable thinking and research of the phenomenon, to establish a long effective working mechanism of assisting poor college students, to encourage the poor students to keep advancing and to aspire to be a talent able to reward the helping society. It will undoubtedly have an important practical impact on the"Four Civilizations"construction in China, and will play a positive role in developing and constructing a"Harmonious Socialist Society"on a comprehensive scale.
