A Study On Career Guidance In American Colleges And Universities

Career guidance plays an important role in career development of human beings. Although the "actual career guidance" came into being in the beginning of civilization, and originated in the emergence of social division of labor, as a special social work, it sprouted in America at the end of 19^th. America is one of the earliest countries in which career guidance emerged. Through development of over one hundred years, a big career guidance system has formed. The system includes career guidance in primary school, in secondary school, in colleges and universities and in society. The contents of career guidance of each stage are abundant and special.On the problems of employment of college students and difficulties of career guidance in colleges and universities in our country, the author takes career guidance in American colleges as research object, introduces its model, analyses its characteristics and successful experience, hope to get some enlightenments for us.The dissertation is divided into six parts: the first part is foreword, including presentation of problems, summary of literature and research methods; the second part gives a brief introduction of emergence and development of career guidance in American colleges and universities; the third part discusses the base of career guidance theories; the forth part studies the model of career guidance; the fifth part analyses its characteristics; and the sixth part sums up some enlightenments.
