With the increasingly severe employment situation, the importance of university employment guidance has become increasingly significant. The objective of college employment guidance is categorized into three classes in this article. First, primary goal, oriented by employment rate, is the training of career viability. Second, the training of human-job matching ability is secondary goal, which is oriented by employment quality. Third, advanced goal is to guide the occupational direction which is oriented by national strategic demand.This paper surveyed students in HNU about students’ employment intention and fresh graduates’ employment choice, and got respectively 11,511 and 2,970 valid questionnaires.With descriptive statistics of findings, this article analyzed students’ future plans, ideal employment regions, classes of cities and departments, scale of departments, expected salary, values of job election, appraisal of their ability and etc. It also analyzed fresh graduates’ destinations, classes of the cities they work in, expected and actual salary, satisfaction of the departments they work in, occupational values, appraisal of their ability and so on.Combining the three goals of employment guidance with some selected findings of those two surveys, this text made some contrastive analysis and correlation analysis by SPSS. On primary goal, it discussed the discrepancy between students’ employment intension and actual employment status, the discrepancy between their occupational qualities and skills, the difficulties they faced while applying for a position, and the need of employment guidance. On secondary goal, it explored the clarity of students’ career planning, employment confidence, employment competence and its affecting factors. As for advanced goal, it studied students’ intention of grass-roots employment and starting a business.According to the data analysis, the article pointed out some problems in the college employment guidance, such as the disparity between employment intension and actual employment status. And the present supply of employment guidance does not match actual demand; students’ career planning needs improving; disparity exists in employment competence of different groups; the guidance on grass-roots employment and starting businesses is less effective. To solve them, some countermeasures are put forward.Including enhancing the quality and effect of the career guidance curriculums, adjusting the employment anticipation, shifting the weights of career guidance, improving the career service system, strengthening the instruction of career planning, perfecting the talents cultivation system, taping the full potential of informationization, intensifying the effort to support those in employment need and those potential in need, establishing the assessment system of employment quality and improving the guidance methods and work focus of grass-root employment and entrepreneurship.
