Rhetoric is an important part in language study. Should it be a concern in high school Chinese teaching? What kind of attitude should teachers take? Educational circles hold different views.Teaching Standards for Chinese in Full-time Compulsory Schooling(experimental manuscript)(here in after New Curriculum Standard)puts forward new demands on rhetoric teaching in a new period. The suggestion of implementation says,"In reading teaching, students can be directed to follow the text to learn necessary grammar and rhetoric without systematic and centralized grammatical rhetoric teaching for their comprehension of texts."Many junior Chinese teachers hereby think that they can say little or nothing about rhetoric knowledge in teaching. Guided by such a thought, one can imagine the teaching effect of junior Chinese rhetoric. In fact, this opinion results from a one- sided and inadequate understanding of the New Curriculum Standard.After doing research on junior Chinese experimental textbooks (six volumes altogether) ,we concludes that the obvious lack of attention of rhetoric teaching in the New Curriculum Standard attributes to the characteristics of rhetoric and improper teaching methods during a long period. The truth is Chinese textbooks contain comparatively systematic and abundant rhetoric knowledge, which can cultivate students'rhetoric qualities from various aspects such as reading, writing and oral communication. Therefore, the writer of the thesis suggests that rhetoric teaching is still very important at present. Teaching material should be used scientifically to carry through rhetoric teaching, not only from curriculum reading, writing and oral communication, but also from training students'rhetoric ability in life.Finally, the thesis discusses the revelation of figure of speech in high school teaching with the connection of academic frontier. The effect of revelation mainly includes expanding students' thinking and fostering students ' creative abilities.
