Physics experiments play an important part in training students'creative ability in high school. Theoretical studies indicate that unconventional experiment is also the basis of physics experimental instruction in high school, and it has great advantages in promoting cognition, developmental capacity as well as emotional education. It is worth checking whether the unconventional experiment can affect the training of creative ability among junior high school students in our teaching practice.The present study explores the impact of unconventional physics experiment on the creative ability among junior high school students from a positive perspective. Participants are students in Junior Three from No. 2 Middle School in XiMeng. They are divided into two groups, one is the experiment group in which unconventional physics experiment are proceeded while the other is control group in which unconventional physics experiment are not proceeded. The present study designs the instruction with unconventional experimental apparatus, tests the creative ability with Williams'creative tendency scale, and evaluates the creative ability mainly from four aspects——adventure, challenge, curiosity and desire to learn.The study use The combination of the literature ways and the experimental methods. The results were statistically analyzed by using SPSS. The present study explores whether the proceeding of unconventional physics experiment has affected the students'creative ability; and has different effects on the different dimension of the creative ability according to the gender; and has impact on the physics experimental performance.After a short period of research on instructional practice in unconventional physics experiment, we conclude that the proceeding of unconventional physics experiment has affected the students'creative ability; and has different effects on the different dimension of the creative ability according to the gender; has no significant impact on the physics experimental performance.Influences that can't be controlled still exist, such a physics mature, psychological development, and involvement in the activity or study that is beneficial to the advance of the creative ability. Although several known influences were modeled in the analyses, influences were not studied may also be important. Therefore, there is broader space for the future research on unconventional physics experiments'influence on the creative ability among junior high school students in our educational practice.
