Main Problems Of High School's English Teaching And Countermeasures

With the development of economic and social life in the 21st century, English, the most widely used language in the world, is becoming more and more important. English is also a very important basic subject in high schools of China. As one of four basic skills, reading plays an important and special role in high school English teaching.New English Curriculum Standard and the syllabus of high school have set a high standard for teachers and students on reading teaching and learning. Compared with the importance of reading in high school English teaching, the problems related to teaching and leaning of English reading are becoming more and more serious, which cannot be ignored any more. Experts at home and abroad have made a lot of research on this area and achieved a lot. Based on the result of these researches, the theories of language teaching and a lot of reading about relative materials in this area by the author, the author made a research and analyzed the main problems in high school English reading teaching and brought up some solutions in the end.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is introduction part, including the background of the study, the literature review of English reading teaching and the value of the paper.The second part gives a brief introduction of the theories of English reading teaching, including the theories of reading, the importance of reading and principles of English reading teaching.The third part is the research part. The author investigates a high school English reading teaching situation and finds some problems.The fourth part is the conclusion part. From the results of the research in the third part, the author sums up the main problems of high school English reading teaching.The fifth part is the countermeasures part. The author tries to find countermeasures for these problems mentioned in the fourth part.
