The new curriculum of Biology for senior students advocates autonomous learning and inquiry learning. In order to realize this goal, we should motivate the students. Thus, during the teaching process, it is whether the students' learning motivation is stimulated effectively that matters a lot. It is of great importance for the students to acquire knowledge as well as develop abilities.The famous American psychologist John M.Keller has posed ARCS Model Of Motivation Design. He has designed a lot of specific strategies to arouse the students' interest in learning, according to the students' motivation state and the characteristics of the teaching materials, which are highly practical and can serve as an important guide to Biology teaching.This thesis applies ARCS Model of Motivation Design in Biology teaching for senior students. The teaching strategies of ARCS Model of Motivation Design have been carried out in an experimental class. Before and after the strategies were put into practice, the author conducted a survey with a questionaire about the senior students' motivation learning of Biology. By comparing the students' grades and analyzing the survey results, we can find that the students' learning motivation and grades have been improved to some degree with the help of ARCS Model of Motivation Design.Therefore, it is effective to apply ARCS Model of Motivation Design in Biology teaching for senior students . In this way ,we can stimulate the students' learning motivation and put the students' learning autonomy to good use . So , ARCS Model of Motivation Design is worth popularizing in senior Biology teaching.
