During The 1920s, Chunhui secondary school in Shangyu, Zhejiang Province reached an unprecedented stature in the history of modern secondary education in China. Cultural celebrities mainly like Xia Mianzun, Zhu Ziqing, Feng Zikai with excellent mental and moral characters bend themselves to education whose practical qualities thus highly improved. They consciously worked ideal excellent education forms on individual practice, which had been turned into a kind of educational spirit. Chunhui secondary school's distinct personalities and characteristics of the times are valuable for research.In this paper, we choose "Chunhui secondary school" as a case to refine inherent spirits of the old secondary schools with profound cultural traditions since The May 4th. Reliving education traditions is to build inner spirits for the immediate development of the education practices. The research methods used in this paper will not conceptualize the spirits of education or make them as framework,but by trying to return to the education locale through the words of literate, teachers and students of Chunhui, and contemporary scholars, we can see that the spirits of Chunhui education thus emerge.This paper consists of four parts. The first part is an introduction which clearly pointed out the reasons for choosing the subject, literature summarization, research methods and research value. The second part dissertate the background when Chunhui secondary school educational spirit was born and pointed out the hominine,ideological and material starting points. The third part is the main body of the paper which demonstrates the educational spirits of Chunhui secondary school from the following three aspects: to obtain access to the individual spiritual world through some texts and the educational concepts behind them; to select several keywords to demonstrate the abundance and stature of their education practices; vital character changes of students and teachers in the world of Chunhui education and the realization of their shared spiritual growth. Part IV is a continuation of the Chunhui education spirit which mainly discusses that the establishment of the Lida academy can carry forward and deepens the educational spirits of Chunhui secondary school The final conclusion is the significance and value of Chunhui secondary school as the Uptopia of modern education.
