Today the world enters into the information age; people get a deeper understanding of the importance of education. With the further reform of basic education and further boost for courses innovation of geography, people show more concerns and requirements towards Geography teachers, This requires geography teachers who active in the forefront of teaching , in addition to the traditional definition of the professional features, they also have a professional feature of expansion------ by comparing the self-study, others study and on the theory of the test of practice, to realize self-development on professional.Through the foothold of education and scientific researches led to the broad masses of geography teachers devote to teaching and research, constantly enhance their research capacity and levels, and promote their professional development, This has become the general consensus of educational circle. Under this background, this paper conducts investigations of the actual situations of education and scientific researches in Shanghai secondary schools. The survey showed that geography teachers in Shanghai secondary schools whose interests in the researches are still in low side, the papers which can published in the core publications are less, and some teachers whose mastery of research methods are not sufficient. On the whole, they are still in a relatively low level of scientific research, and the level of achievements in scientific research is not high .After specific analysis, we found that current situations of scientific research which caused by the objective and subjective reasons: too heavy burden on daily work; shortage of the scientific research materials and funds; lack of education and scientific research training; unsoundness of management mechanism and incentive mechanism; weak consciousness of Scientific research; complex motivation of education and scientific research, lack of driving force of domestic demand; existing knowledge structure and does not meet the requirements of education and scientific research, and so on.In the process of the questionnaire survey, we found that most of the teachers familiar with research papers which this means of educational and scientific research, and tend to express their research results through this way , so we further carried out a empirical study on the papers which belongs to the geography teachers of Shanghai secondary schools. The result shows that the promotion of education and scientific research papers don't get an ideal result. Although there are to be encouraged, but a number of problems also existed. Such as the inappropriate titles, the irrational structures, expression was not standardized; lack of good combination of first-hand materials and theories, the research depth is not inadequate and so on.Finally, we believe that, despite the vast number of geography teachers of secondary school achieved certain results in the education and scientific research activities , but there are still many problems, many factors restricting works of the development of the geographic frontline teachers.These constraints have both the objective conditions and subjective deficiencies. In view of this, we start from actual conditions of the geographic frontline teachers, put forward some substantial suggestions toward their education and research, to explore a way of benefit their education and research , help them to become research-type teachers.
