A Study On Ideological And Political Education Upon Special Group Of College Students

As the report on the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(NCCPC) points out, education is the foundation of the nation's rejuvenation, and educational equity the basis of social equity. To build a harmonious campus is for the development of colleges and universities, and also for a harmonious society. As an essential component of college students, this group should be paid particular focus. Solving the its ideological and political education problem will make a big difference to higher education's stability and development, to a harmonious campus building, and is also necessary for the carrying out of the "people foremost" scientific development concept. Thus as part of higher education work, the ideological and political education of this group have drawn general attention from the society in the 21st century, and gradually becomes an expanding research area.The author of this article analyzes the group's ideological and political education, by investigating its current mental and social psychological situation, which proved to be positive, healthy and upward in general. Yet, facing new global environment and reality, the group meets new conditions and problems in the moral and psychological quality aspects. They are: maze and emptiness in the students' belief system; lacks of clear pursuits and beliefs; increasing ideological and practical issues; obvious values transformation; psychological unbalance; absence of honesty. All of these bring new challenges to the group's ideological and political education. The reasons can be various, including that of the students themselves and the outside world, e.g. unbalanced regional economics development, employment problem, bad effect from the society, multi-culture conflicts in a global age, attacks of strong western cultural thoughts and values, family problem and even problem of the current ideological and political education itself. Through research into these reasons, this article puts forward the necessity and importance to carry out the ideological and political education for this special group.this article presents principles, objectives, especially content of the ideological and political education upon the special group of college students. It should adhere to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, abide by principles of socialistic core values system, socialistic harmonious society, and the principle of different levels. Its ultimate objective is to promote the group's harmonious, free and all-round development.The article discusses especially and thoroughly about how to effectively carry out the ideological and political education upon group of special college students. The author emphasizes that there should be seven aspects in the work: education of ideals and beliefs, self-reliance, confidence, self-esteem, self-love, self-discipline; education of appreciation; honesty education; mental health education; gratitude education. With references to experiences from psychology and behavioral science, according to the particularity of the group itself and school's practical condition, the article makes such recommendations: start with grasp of characteristics of the group, implement the ideological and political education by combining the work of solving students' real difficulties, the work of teaching and learning, campus culture building, mental health education, practice education and careers guidance work.
