In recent years,along with the advancement of higher education reform,promoting the students' personal development and cultivating innovative talents has become an important mission of colleges and universities,thus the issue of undergraduate major choice freedom becomes more and more attention.However,due to the current college entrance examination enrollment system and the talent training mode,students' major freedom of choice has been greatly restricted.According to the combing literature,there are few systematic researches on major choice of undergraduate students,especially the case study based on the detailed investigation.Therefore,in order to understand the major choice freedom of university students at present,find the existing problems,this paper in the use of questionnaire,interview and so on,on the basis of the empirical research method,with literature analysis,with China university of petroleum(East China)as a case,making an in-depth study of university students' major choice freedom problem,have important theory meaning and practice value.The first chapter is an overview of the theory of freedom of major choice for college students.This part of the article mainly defines some basic concepts of thesis,also illuminates two theories which closely related to the college students' major choice freedom: humanism learning theory and Marxism theory of people's comprehensive and free development,as well as also make the interpretation to the limitation and the value orientation of college students' major choice freedomThe second chapter analyzes the factors that influence of the degree of major choice freedom.There are three main factors influencing the degree of major choice freedom of college students,including social subject factors,national and university principal factors,and college students' main factors.Social main factors mainly include the influence of social needs on professional setting;The main factors of the state and universities include the rigid demand of college admission system.The main factors of students include the consciousness of learning rights of college students.The factors that influence the degree of major choice freedom of college students' are more complex,and the analysis of influencing factors provides the direction for the future research on the protection and expansion of college students' major choice freedom.The third chapter is the investigation and analysis of the status quo of college students' major choice freedom in China university of petroleum(east China).This part adopts the form of questionnaire survey,mainly from the influence factors of major choice,the way of major choice,major degree of recognition and satisfaction,the understanding of degrees of freedom of major choice,choose system rationality and so on to analysis the status of the college students' major choice freedom.Research suggests that,in general,there are many problems in major choice freedom of college students',such as major choice is more restricted,major choice are greatly influenced by external factors,major choice way remains to be perfect,the major degree of recognition and satisfaction is not high,major choice policy is not reasonable,etc.,these are to some extent,affected the realization of the major choice freedom of college students.The fourth chapter is to guarantee and promote the college students 'major choice of freedom of countermeasures research.This part mainly starts from the three levels of the country,universities and students,and puts forward the countermeasures to guarantee and expand the freedom of college students' major choice freedom.
