With the development of market economy, the employment gender gap is gradually being highlighted, the specific performance is occupational sex segregation' s appearance and the strengthening of the situation. This essay has done the research of urban units female employment in Inner Mongolian autonomous region since 1995, and then found that the urban units female employment situation of Inner Mongolia is not optimistic, of the total employed population in urban units, the highest proportion of female in the years is only for 26.25% , Lower than the national level of 38.1%; In addition, the paper also measured occupational sex segregation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region through the data that comes from the Inner Mongolia Statistical Yearbooks and surveys. For horizontal segregation, after the comparison of Duncan index between Inner Mongolia region and national levels found, the extent of occupational sex segregation in Inner Mongolia region is not very serious, modest changes over the years, showing relatively stable state, however, it appears to rise in recent years; the fluctuations of the internal occupational categories is larger, particularly in the education sector. Vertical segregation and gender wage gap was also reflected, the performance of vertical segregation is the lack of women in senior management ranks. In the analysis of the reason for sex segregation, we conducted a questionnaire survey that included education indicators, occupational achievement motivation, and other aspects that might led to sex segregation, the results showed that in education indicators, women' s average level even higher than that of men, in occupational achievement motivation, women' s performance is weaker. In addition, we also made systematic analysis of sex segregation from social factors, organizational factors, family factors and personal factors etc, and then gave my views to change this situation.
