Chinese women tennis doubles have been making great progress ever since Li Ting and Sun Tiantian won the historic Olympic Champion in 2004. Encouraged by that, an increased number of Chinese teenagers are engaging themselves in tennis training. The same thing is happening in Henan. But, in comparison with the other provinces or municipalities, this sport is advancing more slowly in Henan and there are many problems to tackle. So it is necessary and helpful to make analyses of the current situation in Henan's tennis progress among the young people and put forward the future strategy of development.By making a research of the tennis development among the young people in Henan via approaches such as literature and data, investigation, and mathematic statistics, the paper comes to the conclusion as follows: (1) Tennis is advancing quickly among the young people in Henan, but it still lags behind the other provinces and municipalities; the development is even imbalanced in the different areas within the province, with Zhengzhou, the provincial capital city,"taking the lead far way ahead". (2) The managing system of the young tennis players in Henan is imperfect. There are more players than registered. (3) The contents and methods adopted by the amateur teams in training the young players are not scientific. Big contradictions exist in training and learning. (4) There are very few tennis events organized for the young players'participation, and the contest regulations are to be complete. (5) The number of coaches and players are in great disproportion. High-leveled coaches are exceptionally few, and the majority of the coaches need to promote their skills and capacities in training. (6) The development of tennis among the young people is seriously limited by the shortage of funds. The few fields and poor facilities can hardly satisfy the training needs of the young players. (7) Many of the young players are not selected in a standard way. The non-scientific-selecting way resulted in few qualified players. (8) The elementary and middle schools are not involved in the training of the back-up tennis players.Based on the above analyses, the researcher here proposes the development strategy for Henan to train its young tennis players as follows: (1) Improve the player-management system and the regulations for players to be transferred to the higher-grade teams or to be exchanged with other teams. (2) Enhance the macro-control functioning of the government in regulating the back-up talents training and providing policy supports. (3) Strengthen the training of the coaches and regulate the qualifications for job-entrance. (4) Step up the reform in the contesting system and encourage the organization of high-leveled tennis events for the young players. (5) Publicize more and get the business to give donations, enhancing the cooperation with both the media and the business. (6) Include schools in the tennis back-up talents training system. (7) Promoting the way in selecting young players. (8) Different training contents and methods ought to be adopted according to the trainee players'ages.
