The Relation Between Internet Addiction And Personality Traits Of College Students

This study using internet addiction questionaire and 16PF Scale investigated 293 colleage students, in order to test their present state of internet addiction(IAD) and personality traits, and explored the proportion of colleage students internet addiction, and the relation between internet addiction and personality traits.The results indicated:Firstly, The percetage of colleage IAD is fairly lower ,just reached 2.05%.Secondly, the gender difference is significant, boys outnumber girls.Thirdly, there is a close relation between their motivation of Surfing internet and IAD.In addition, Online Chart and Internet Games had positive relation with original score IAD score, while Information collection and Online study had negative relation with original IAD score.Finally , college students IAD is highly relative to Personality Traits.Compared to Non-IAD, students with IAD had more nevious persnoality, and less imagination personality; and more Intimide was disclosed but determination.In addition, Creativity and Professional abiity category manifested lower score.Correlate Analysis revealed that the higher score they got in IAD, the lower personality trait score they had in Stablity, Boldness, Fantasy, Self-discipline. by constract, the higher scoer showed in Anxiety, Nervous; In Sub Personality Factor ,they acted more introverted, emotional and anxious; furthermore, the Mental Healthy, Profession Ability and the Adoptation to the new enviroment aspects, they got lower score.
