In recent years, Internet Addiction or Pathological Internet Use(PIU) has received more and more concerns. Based on the current studies and the realistic situation in China, this paper develops the Adolescent Pathological Internet Use Scale (APIUS), and uses unconstrainted structural equation model to explore the interactive effects of adolescents' Big Five personality and internet service preference on internet addiction, by surveying a sample of 339 adolescents through questionnaires.(1) The exploratory factor analysis and the confirmatory factor analysis, APIUS is consisted of six dimensions, including salience, mood alteration, social comfort, tolerance, compulsive internet use/withdrawal symptoms, and negative outcomes. APIUS has clear structure, good reliability, and validity. It can be used to assess the pathological internet use for Chinese adolescents.(2) On average effect, adolescents' Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness have an negative effect on PIU. Neuroticism, internet social, recreational, and business service preference have an positive effect PIU. Openness to experience and internet information service preference have no significant effect on PIU.(3) Neuroticism moderates the relationships between internet social, recreational, business service preference and PIU. Especially, these relationships are stronger for adolescents high in Neuroticism;(4) For adolescents high in Conscientiousness, the relationship between internet social service preference and PIU are positive, but for adolescents low in Conscientiousness, this relationship are negative;(5) For adolescents high in Conscientiousness, the relationship between internet social service preference and PIU are stronger than adolescents low in Conscientiousness.
