DBAE is an art education theory which arisen in 1980's. It extended the former"Child Centered Thoery", proposed Artistic Creation, Art History, Art Criticism and Aesthetics. It is a requisite basic humannities for developing art education, and also a subject-based art education, namely, the core of DBAE.DBAE is"a part of liberal education". Its purpose is to culture students to understand several art fields; to express their thoughts with art media medium after studying art in all directions; to pass emotions; to get across art. Through studying artistic knowledge, students can evaluate works of art correctly, can learn meanings, thoughts and sentiments, etc. Many works of art have era significance and historical value which need to be comprehended and grasped by students.DBAE includes Artistic Creation, Art History, Art Criticism and Aesthetics. These four subjects aren't exist isolated in this theory frame, they are intersectional and supplement each other. When teachers teaching in the classroom, they treat not any single subjuect as teaching content. For example, when a teacher is explaining a work of art, he will give analysis on the historical background, creative skill and connotation of this work. In the meantime, art history, art creation, art criticism and contents of aesthetics can be showed.In America, the theory of DBAE is put into practice right after it is proposed. DBAE is involved in American elhi art education logos.The implementation of these four subjects start from students'art studying in kindergartens till they leave secondary schools. About curriculum provision, these four subjects are taught in different forms according to DBAE's main content, students'different grades and different ages in consideration of children's stages of mental development, so as to raise students'taste in art and judgement on works of art, and to reinforce their ability of creating works of art.
