The Research And Enlightenment For The Secondary School Of The United States Since The 1970s

Since the 1970s, by the reform and development process with the international education, career education gradually cause for concern. The United States, as the first country for practicing career education, has accumulated a great deal of useful experiences in their practiced model.In our China, despite the nature and the tasks of the basic education are clear, the specific implementation process has deviated from its original purpose, especially in the secondary schools. Under the educational model off work world, Youth can not access the essential knowledge, abilities and talents in the 21 Century , but also can not get employment concepts and skills and the ability of financial community. Faced with such new challenges, we must consider the following issues, how to make prepare for students'all-life, rather than test in order to admitte the University, preparing in psychologically and attitude for the unpredictable life.In this article the author briefly discusses the update situation that the education related to career development ignored at large in Chinese general high schools. So it is very urgent and necessary to study American career education .Then focusing on the career education in American high schools,the author identifies and discusses the key concept of the career education movement and their implications for education reform, rethink the problem emerged in the education reform. .Finally, taking American career education as references, the author gives her own suggestion on the general secondary school education in China:1. Promoting the step on the elementary education curriculum reform, career education should be incorporated into the secondary school, setting up the curricula relating career education, etc.2. Vocational education should be enhanced in the secondary school education, by promoting its value universally among the people.3. Strengthen the convergence between Secondary education and higher education with career education.4. The school education should keep closer relationship with labor and employment by building up the mechanism of mutual communication between the education and society.
