With the coming of the post-industrial society, a general and profound transformation is occurring in today's world, which has cause the ultimate change in the labor world and also bring forward austere challenge to the development of the vocational education. The developed countries, such as America, has transformed the vocational education in their own country one after another after they stepped into post-industrial society. Despite the different problems with the vocational education and the different transforming subject in every country, set in the common background of the post-industrial society, many of the fundamental problems are international. As a result of the similar stratagem adopted by the post-industrial countries, many common characters are presented in the development of the vocational education in post-industrial society.Starting with studying scientific and technological revolution, the theory of post-industrial society widely discussed the great effect on the industrial structure, social structure and management system with the science and technology progressing, which has a positive effect on the social and economic development in China. The variety and character of the vocational education in post-industrial society will also have a far-reaching effect on the development of the vocational education in our country. We should take practical measures to promote the vocational educational transformation in our country by combining the situation of China and using the theory and practice of developing vocational education by post-industrial countries for reference.Recently, the vocational education in our country has made great progress in both expanding the scale and improving the quality and it has been emphasized to the most extent. However, compared with the requirement of the development of the national economy and the goal of the its development, there will be a long way to go for the development of the vocational education in our country and we haven't stepped into the stage of both being good and being rapid expected by many people.Understanding the proposition of the development of the vocational education in post-industrial society systematically helps to solve the practical problems with the vocational education in our country and also provide theoretical evidence for programming its long-term development and establishing systems.Based on studying the case of America and from the international comparison, this thesis systematically sorted and analyzed the macroscopical character of the goal, function, status, management system, structural system and tendency of the development of the vocational education set in post-industrial society and based on this, this thesis brought forward some speculation and related suggestions on the actuality and problems of the development of the vocational education in our country.
