This paper studied, by research and questionnaire, 280 counselors in Jiangsu universities, and analyzed the relationship between the career burnout of university counselors and their personality, and concluded as follows:1,The questionnaire on teachers' career burnout and the questionnaire on young people's personality adopted in this paper were proved effective, and can be used in researches in the relationship between the career burnout of university counselors and the elements of personality.2. Overall the career burnout of the samples studied in this paper was low. There was low burnout in the three aspects—emotion failure, cynicism, and low sense of achievement. In terms of emotion failure, the degree of career burnout of university counselors showed notable difference caused by involvement of work with the League; those who also work with the League have higher degree of burnout. In terms of cynicism, there was marked difference caused by health; those who are in poor health tend to be more cynical. In terms of low sense of achievement, there was visible difference caused by the type of university the counselors are working in; those who work in private colleges have the lowest sense of achievement.3. The personalities of the university counselors presented notable gender differences. Male counselors averaged higher than female counselors in Dominance, Capacity for status, Responsibility, Self-control, Achievement via conformance, Achievement via independence, and Femininity.4. The findings on the relationship between the career burnout of university counselors and their personality were as follows.With regard to the three aspects of career burnout, emotion failure is positively related to Dominance, Psychological mindedness, and Flexibility to the notable level of .05, and negatively related to Social presence, Tolerance, and Good impression to the notable level of .05, and negatively related to Capacity for status, Sense of wellbeing, Self-control, and Intellectual efficiency to the notable level of .01 . Cynicism is negatively related to Capacity for status, Sociability, Social presence, Sense of wellbeing, Responsibility, Self-control, Tolerance, Good impression, and Intellectual efficiency to the notable level of .01. Low sense of achievement is positively related to Psychological mindedness to the notable level of .01, and negatively related to Sense of wellbeing and Tolerance to the notable level of .05, and negatively related to Capacity for status, Sociability, Social presence, Self-acceptance, Responsibility, Self-control, Good impression, and Intellectual efficiency to the notable level of .01.As to the elements of personality, Capacity for status, Social presence, Sense of wellbeing, Self-control, Tolerance, Good impression, and Intellectual efficiency are all negatively related to the three aspects of career burnout to the notable level of .05.
