Research On The Competent Personality Traits Of College Counselor

As the main force of college students’ ideological and political education work, counselor is the mentor and guide of college students’ healthy growth as well as the main source of university management cadre. In recent years, the attention of counselor from all walks of life gradually increased, especially the study on counselors’ competency and personality are both increasingly comprehensive and in-depth.However, the attention rate of competent personality is low. Counselors’ competent personality not only ensures smooth and steady university management, continuous and stable connotation-oriented development, but also good for college students’ growth of health as well as counselor’s self-health and career goals. Therefore, study on counselor competent personality, provide strategies and methods of training competent personality is of great significance.With the usage of interviews, open-ended questionnaire to collect related adjective of counselor competent personality, finally get 60 high-frequency words.Then draw up the "counselor competent personality traits questionnaire" and implement the survey. After analyzing the data with exploratory factor, we get seven competent personality traits: willpower, compassion, execution, extroversion, dedication, good communication, ambition.There several ways to cultivate counselor’s competent personality.Firstly, improve laws and regulations to ensure the integrity of the system, to strengthen supervision and management,carry out the effectiveness of the system to improve the training system of counselor competent personality. Secondly,guide public opinions, create a positive social climate, improve the school environment, create the atmosphere of personality cultivation and develop practical activities to build a harmonious climate to optimize the training environment of counselor competent personality.Thirdly, create a select mode which focused on counselor competent personality, formulate a management plan which aimed at counselor competent personality, establish a counselor competent personality-oriented evaluation system to improve the counselor competent personality cultivation methods.Fourthly, Update old ideas, deepen personality awareness, enhance psychological support, training personality behavior, conduct self-examination activities,enhance the charisma to inspire cultivation potentials of counselor competent personality.
