With the times of economic knowledge coming and globalization, education is facing a new challenge. Educational reform all over the world is increasingly speeding up. The National Ministry of Education regards Research-Oriented Learning(ROL) as an important part of the reform content of curriculums of junior and senior schools. More and more schools and educators in our country attach importance to Research-Oriented Learning and regard it as an important way and media of developing students' enterprising spirit and practical ability. There is no doubt that Research-Oriented Learning is one of the highlights of fundamental educational reform at home and abroad.Research-Oriented Learning aims at fostering the students' self-study ability, inquiring consciousness and innovating spirit. Researched-oriented learning will meet the needs of society and English vocabulary teaching. Research-Oriented Learning can be divided into two types—co-operative group research, and individual research. In ROL, teachers are required to play roles like manager, cultivator, and facilitator. First of all, the present thesis will dwell on the content, goal, characteristics and theoretical base of Research-Oriented Learning. The present paper will mainly address how the new form of curriculum of Research-Oriented Learning can be incorporated into senior high school English vocabulary teaching. The related problem, with which all the English educators in fundamental education circle of our country are much concerned, will also be discussed in the present text.This paper is intended for the benefit of solving the problems existing in English vocabulary teaching on senior high school and the author also hopes it will be of some help to the upcoming researchers.
