| The second half of the 19th century is an age of China suffering serious disaster. With the unceasingly invasion of the Western big powers, territory was ceded, indemnities was paid and the sovereignty was perished. Taking the "strong demand" and the "persuading of the rich" as the slogan, Westernization Group launched a movement of studying the West, thus the Chinese modernization began, modern industry was established, the mine was exploited, the coal was transported and the railroad was constructed. With the development of Chinese newly built railroad enterprise, China had run into the problem of deficiency of railway technicians, especially senior technicians. Thus the compatriots faced the establishment of educational institution of training railway technicians.When the human society entered from agricultural civilization to the era of industrial civilization, the specific education, modern higher railway education appeared. It was shaped to meet the needs of capitalist mode of production. The road that modern Chinese railway higher education experienced was that it learned from the western capitalism and made some innovations and realized the localization gradually. On one hand China insisted on learning the advanced mode and experience of building of school in American-European countries; On the other hand it made some improvements under the combination of its own reality.This thesis tries to describe the origin and development of the Chinese modern railway higher education under the effect of the Eastward Transmission of Western Sciences, and it makes some simple analysis about the education management and its status. In this way, this thesis tries to explore the role "western studies" plays in the Chinese modern railway higher education. The main part of this thesis consists of four parts: Part one is the introduction. It mainly introduces this subject' s research value, research current situation and research approach. Part two mainly narrates the start of "The Eastward Transmission of Western Sciences" and modern higher education, and combs the rising and preliminary development of Chinese modern railway higher education. Part three describes the education management of higher education of the railway. Through the research of the school building' s start, level, feature, setting up of subjects, length of schooling, course system and teachers and student, this thesis explores that the Chinese modern railway higher education should not only insists on learning the western advanced experience but also makes some continuous improvements under its own reality. Part four probes the position and function of preliminary development of higher education of modern railway by taking Tangshan Engineering & Mining College as the individual case. |
