Modern lifelong education has been paid great attention by the countries in the world since 1960s and was widely practiced. Then in the late 1970s, it was introduced to China which was a historic event that not only conformed to the global trend, but also met the domestic needs in social and economic environment. And all of them have brought great impact on our society.Now, it is more than 30 years since the introduction of modern lifelong education which has also gone through two processes:one process is from the aspect of theory to the aspect of learning and living of ordinary citizens, the other is from the aspect of the state education policy-making to the aspect of the building of learning society in local and community level. Meanwhile lifelong education has a huge and far-reaching effect on our education, especially the reform and development of adult education. Also this indicates that the practice of lifelong education and learning in China has entered a new stage. Therefore, with the theoretical development of lifelong education as well as the local, political and systematic change of it, it will certainly become one of the important guiding principles of the development and reform of education at all levels in our country.At the same time, lifelong education is continually developing and improving in China. This paper paid attention to the spread of lifelong education in our country, analyzed the influence of it in a macro perspective and finally made a summary and reflection. It is divided into two sections:the spread of modern education thought in China and its influence. In detail, this paper firstly introduced the formation and spread of modern lifelong education, and then analyzed the changes of it in content and extension, finally discussed the impact on China, In general, lifelong education has greatly influenced our country which included not only the policy-making but also the practice of education. In order to make this clear to the reader, the author took Shanghai as an example and analyzed the development of lifelong education in this city. Finally, this paper gave some reflection on the disadvantages about the building of lifelong education in China.
