Vocational education is referred to a kind of special education which trains people to take up a certain career based on a certain ordinary education to meet with the need of the social and economical development. Middle vocational education is not only the important basis of the economical and social development, but also the important part of the whole education of our country. At present, there are 646 middle vocational schools in Jiangsu Province forming a kind of vocational education frame in which the high vocational education is the head, the middle vocational education is the body, technical training organization acts as foot, and there is a good connection among them. But in such a good background , PE teaching of some middle school in some areas is facing a grave challenge ,for example, the authority of the school lay emphasis on PE teaching in theory rather than in practice ,PE teaching is stuck in a closed status with little communication with the outer world, the idea and method is out of date, as a result ,it is very difficult for us to develop PE sense and quality of students. Therefore, the improvement of the current state of PE teaching and the reinforcement of the research of PE teaching will be of great help to promote quality education in PE teaching in middle vocational schools.I conduct a research and analysis on fifty-six PE teachers and some students of thirteen middle vocational schools in Danyang City using methods of poll -investigation of document and materials, of on- the -spot inspection, of individual visit, and of figure-statistics etc. The result demonstrates as follows: The PE teachers have a strong ambition and sense of innovation. The structure of age and title is basically reasonable. The educational level of the teachers can in the main meet the demand of PE teaching with a stem unbalanced ratio between men teachers and women teachers. In addition to a serious lack of PE teaching staff ,PE teaching is thoroughly confined to a educational pattern designed for examinations. The teaching aim is mainly on the impartation of the traditional sports skills. PE lessons laid out meet the requirement of the curriculum ,but the activities after class is insufficient ;the PE substantial condition is relatively poor, so is with the apparatus and investment. Some school leaders don't think much of PE teaching, they seldom fulfill the policies and the regulations related, which leads to poorer pay relatively compared to other teachers. Their labor received no respect and their initiative is suppressed. Therefore according to the major problems of PE teaching which exist in Danyang middle educational schools, I put forward the answer and the suggestions to get through the trouble in PE teaching including: to enforce the construction of teaching staff; to improve the idea of leading; to deepen the reform of PE teaching ;to strengthen the research of PE education .I hope it can be acted as interference for the departments related when making decisions.
