Learning strategies have an important influence on the lifestyle of the individual. The obtaining of learning strategies will lay the foundation for the life-long learning. Teaching effective learning strategies have been regarded as an effective measure to improve students' studying efficiency, lighten their burden, and improve teaching quality in a large scope in education circles. The studying of learning strategies have become one of the hot issues in current education field.Firstly, the general definition of learning strategies is presented, the present situation of research on learning strategies all around the world is reviewed, and the definition of learning strategies in this study is given, that is, various methods used for learning effectively by excellent foreign language learners in high school.Secondly, on the base of the definition given above, a questionnaire about English learning strategies is carried out among 120 students of Senior 1 in a key high school, whose English grades ranked the first 15% in the final exams. In conjunction with interviews on individual students, the using of English learning strategies by excellent language learners in high school are investigated. The analysis of the survey shows that excellent language learners enjoy obvious advantages in using cognitive strategies and meta-cognitive strategies.Finally, based on the analysis of the survey, concrete measures that develop the English learning strategies of high school students are presented, and detailed implementation measures for developing the English learning strategies of high school students are discussed exemplified by a text teaching.
