Higher education turned into a popular stage in China, but how to ensure the quality of higher education is still an important problem we encounter. The use of information technology has been a solution; so much money is invested into the construction of informatization in higher education. However, the effect is out of our expectation. To be effective, teacher is the key factor. Therefore, we should attach much importance to how teacher make use of IT in their classroom.The research is a case study, choosing a higher school in Hunan province as research object, deeply observing the activity of teacher in IT-supported classroom and exploring students' opinion on their teacher's instruction. According to the above facts, the thesis points out some problems, and proposes some suggestion to promote the effectiveness on the teachers' IT-supported classroom instruction. The research includes four parts: the preface, the theory, the practice and the conclusion.The preface is a general introduction, including the origin, object, methods, literature review and the significance of the research.The theory section: Firstly, the thesis states some key concepts, which will explicit research object. Secondly, it refers to some study theories which will guide our research into the effectiveness. All the analyses are based on a system view, such as analyses of factors, classroom instruction, the evaluation etc.The practice procedure: We tried to find out what college teachers do in their IT-supported teaching and students' opinions on its effectiveness by questionnaire. In the meantime, we observe some related matters thoroughly by interviews.The research conclusion: pushing forward college teachers' IT-supported construction by IT training; providing a guarantee for the IT-based teaching by setting up good IT-environment; improving teaching quality by strengthening the evaluation of college teachers' IT-based classroom teaching is necessary for us to improve the effectiveness on IT-supported classroom teaching.
