The improvement of undergraduate education quality is the core issue in the field of higher education research in China.As a key link to improve the quality of undergraduate education,government departments and all sectors of society pay close attention to classroom teaching.Academics have done a lot of research around this topic.Due to the complexity of undergraduate classroom teaching,the existing research mainly focuses on the macro and institutional issues such as undergraduate teaching reform,talent training mode,major and curriculum construction,but lacks the attention to micro level classroom teaching.In particular,the research on teachers' teaching is mostly at the level of lessons learned and reflection,and lacks the corresponding evidence support.Based on this,the research focuses on the effectiveness of classroom teaching,analyzes the existing problems in classroom teaching,and discusses which factors affect teachers' teaching.The research focuses on the following questions: First,how do students evaluate teachers' classroom teaching and how is the effectiveness of undergraduate classroom teaching? Second,what are the differences in the effectiveness of undergraduate classroom teaching between different colleges,different disciplines and different student groups? What's the reason? Third,to what extent has undergraduate classroom teaching promoted the development of students? Fourth,in the daily teaching activities,how do teachers carry out effective teaching,what are the specific characteristics of behavior? Fifth,what factors affect teachers' effective teaching?Addressing the above problems,this paper constructs a classroom teaching evaluation system based on the students' perspective,describes the overall situation of the effectiveness of classroom teaching,analyzes the college differences,subject differences and group differences,and the causes of the differences.Finally,the influencing factors of teachers' effective teaching are analyzed.The main conclusions are as follows: First,in the current undergraduate classroom teaching,teachers generally lack of teaching knowledge,some teachers' teaching attitude and teaching skills obviously need to be improved,and the overall teaching effect needs to be improved.Secondly,there are significant differences in the effectiveness of classroom teaching in different types of colleges and universities,different subjects and different student groups.Organizational resources and systems,subject knowledge and cultural characteristics,and the background of the origin of students are the main reasons for the differences.Third,teachers' knowledge base,teaching attitude and teaching skills play an important role in promoting students' ability development.Fourth,the effective performance of classroom teaching characteristics from the perspective of teachers: respecting the characteristics of the curriculum and the characteristics of the subject;understanding the students' learning and development needs;fully preparing for teaching;paying attention to classroom teaching skills,including clear teaching objectives,reasonable allocation of time,easy to understand,integrating theory with practice,focusing on stimulating students' interest;maintaining good teacher-student interaction by observing students' reaction,questioning,communication and flexible evaluation methods.Fifth,the factors that affect teachers' effective teaching include: 1)individual factors,career choice and preference,teaching assistant experience and various challenges in the early stage of career entry,which affect teachers' teaching cognition and motivation;2)student factors,including student group change,diversity of future planning and development needs,classroom participation,feedback and student growth,bring both incentives and challenges to teachers;3)subject and scientific research factors,leading to the integration and conflict between scientific research and teaching;4)the organizational system and environment,the old traditions declining but the radiation ability of new activities in the teaching development activities is limited,the teaching and scientific research and personnel system,apparently independent operation but implies the value conflict,has restrained the teacher to develop the teaching positively.The countermeasures and suggestions to promote teachers' effective teaching are as follows: first,to encourage teachers to set up ideals and beliefs of "teaching and educating people ";second,to build a platform for teacher-student communication to enhance teacher-student interaction;third,to respect subject attributes and promote the integration of scientific research and teaching;fourth,to reconstruct the organizational system and environment encourage the development of teaching.
