With the trend of science and technology development integration increasingly reinforced at present, the macro-environment of scientific research has changed considerably. In this sense, universities, which are of great importance in the national innovation system, must pay attention to the efficiency and results of scientific research in order to further develop in the fierce competition. As a result, universities should take team cooperative research as the major form in conducting scientific researches. After the Ministry of Education unveiled"the Development Program of Cheung Kong Scholar and Innovative Teams", a spate of scientific research teams emerged in provincial and national universities. However, for a long time, most of Science-Research Organizations are composed of only one person, while others are often made up of professors and students or husbands and wives, what's more, the organization and construction of teams are still at the start, and relevant theories are not advanced enough. So the situation of scientific research teams is not promising at present, let alone such teams with great performance. A number of factors affected the construction and development of university scientific research teams, limiting their performance and advantages.This paper begins with the connotation and organizational characteristics of university scientific research teams by applying theories on team management and systems science, then it analyzes the factors affecting the performance of university scientific research teams on the basis of related documents. This paper mainly elaborates four major factors and sixteen sub-factors which affect the performance of university scientific research teams. A questionnaire survey the author conducted shows that, according to order of importance, the four major factors are collaborative degree, structure of scientific research team, effective operating mechanism, function and environment of the team, while important sub-factors are effectiveness of inner-team communication, ability of academic leader, scientific research conditions and guarantee of research expenses, active level of academic exchanges with other institutions etc. Obviously, university scientific research teams should pay attention to these factors to effectively improve their work and performance.
