The psychological state of college students is the mirror of present China. Under the circumstances of political multi-polarization, economic globalization, and multicultural world, college students are compelled to face fiercer competition and more diverse temptations. Thus in a changing multicultural world they are faced with the challenge of making decisions and orientations. "Depressed Mood" in college students forms and develops while they make hard decisions in their attempts to handle the uncertainty of social environment.With regard to the inner world of college students, "Depressed Mood" in college students results from monotonous life, strenuous study, emotional bewilderment and economic poverty. Therefore "Depressed Mood" is the present college students' response to the social reality. There are two reasons for the choice of this research: one is to help college students understand their present psychological state and grasp the rules for and approaches to healthy development; the other is to urge educators to attach importance to "Depressed Mood" in college students, thus they can conduct more effectively college students' ideological and political education.This thesis analyzes and researches on "Depressed Mood" from five perspectives, aiming at obtaining a more comprehensive view of "Depressed Mood" of college students.Part one examines the historical evolution of contemporary college students' psychological state since resuming the National College Entrance Examination. The psychological state of contemporary college students has undergone reflection and awakening in the late 1970s and early 1980s, middle and fanaticism in the 1980s, rationality and practicality in 1990s, and ambivalence and depression in the early 21st century.Part two summarizes the main manifestations of "Depressed Mood" in present college students: self-conceitedness and frustrated mood, inferiority complex and estrangedness, fickleness and impetuosity, void and lostness.Part three probes into the adverse impact of "Depressed Mood" on college students' ideological and political disadvantageous orientations. Perceived from their actual state of ideology, the impact is mainly disadvantageous embodied in four perspectives: inferiority complex and estrangedness lead to their indifference to politics, fickleness and impetuosity result in their ambivalent ideas and beliefs, void and lostness induce their pathological value orientation, self-conceitedness and frustrated mood bring on escapist sprees.Part four analyzes the causes of "Depressed Mood" in college students. From the point of view of deepness and broadness of "Depressed Mood" in college students, the main causes are as follows: contradiction between ideal world and social reality, life pressure and future anxiety, bewilderment in interpersonal relations and emotional exchange, ambivalence in educational goals and value standard.Part five puts forward the basic countermeasures to "Depressed Mood" in college students, including establishing the spiritual Eden of humanism for college students, enforcing the whole-process career guidance, constructing the long-term effective mechanism of psychological salvation, building the network platform of college students' value identity.
