The teachers and researchers' interest in studying discourse analysis theories has been increasing with the aim to help students improve their English reading and writing.Discourse analysis is the study of the structure and function of language in use,or above the level of the sentence.And the senior students don't know how to use some lexical cohesion such as repeating,synonym,antonym to connect the consistent paragraphs and full texts.Based on the theories of discourse analysis,the author begins with the definition of the discourse analysis,and proposes the viewpoints of applying discourse analysis in senior middle schools' English writing teaching. Researches Methods use in this thesis are analysis,citing examples, questionnaires and experiments.The author also discusses textual coherence and macro-structure.Then the thesis theoretically demonstrates the feasibility of applying discourse analysis in teaching English writing in senior middle schools.Therefore some relevant theories are applied to study the teaching of English writing in senior middle schools.The experiment shows that by using the discourse analysis theories to improve the teaching of English writing in senior middle schools,students' writing abilities has markedly improved.
