As one of the most important parts of the campus culture construction school climate plays a critical role in the construction and development of university and cultivation of talent. The writer made a thorough research into historical literature and documents of school climate in order to have further elaboration of school climate. And case study is also involved.The thesis is divided into following four parts.First, based on the elaboration of the origin and development course of school climate, the connotation and denotation of school climate is revealed. School climate is the comprehensive manifestation of teachers' and students' ideology, morality, discipline, style of work and mental outlook. Teachers and students gradually form their unique conduct and custom in the daily practices, such as teaching, scientific research and management. As a phenomenon of education school climate is a steady educational power and intangible regulation. It can exert a gradual and imperceptible influence on students. To acquire a better understanding, the connection of school climate, school spirit and campus culture and differences between school climate, school spirit and campus culture is elaborated. Furthermore, the characteristic of the school climate is generalized.Secondly, peculiar functions and realization of school climate is examined. Thanks to its characteristic, school climate can refine, encourage and cultivate students' behavior. School climate exerts a lifelong influence on students' sound personality, profound knowledge and future. The realization of functions of school climate cannot lose contact with the main theme of campus culture.Thirdly, the presentation of school climate is studied. Generally speaking, school climate should keep abreast of the times, and at the same time a terse and succinct language should be used. When it comes to the content, ethos of a school should have functions of passing on the national culture, esteeming academic freedom, refining school climate and reflecting distinctive features of colleges or universities. As to the wording of ethos, sentence pattern and part of speech should be carefully chosen.Lastly, based on the above-mentioned study, the analysis of present school climate and a thorough and careful study on some distinctive school climate, the writer generalized the connotation and category of present school climate in China. It is obvious that special emphasis should be placed on knowledge and truth, students' ideological and ethical standards and how to render service to society. This characteristic conforms to the objective and function of the school climate. So school climate can be put into four different categories: morality-orientated; quality-orientated; truth-orientated; politics-orientated. Moreover, there are other types. Some focus on code of conduct. Some pay close attention to characteristic of school. Others show concern for subjects. And still others keep up with the trend of the times. Those studies help people have a better understanding of school climate.School climate is dynamic. Sometimes it will abolish the old meaning and sometimes introduce the new one. It has been continually enriched and perfected. It also needs to keep up with the times. In a word, we should attach importance to school climate and make thorough study on it.
