| Full-time Compulsory Education in Mathematics Curriculum Standards (experimental draft) has put forward many new ideas, including the concept of "mathematical culture". With the curriculum reform pushed ahead with, this concept will gradually penetrate the mathematics teaching in class. Then what about the junior high school math teachers'and students'understanding of the concept of mathematical culture at present? Can they meet the demands of curriculum reform? In this paper, a preliminary analysis is made based on the research, and a number of recommendations are made on how to change the teachers'and students'concepts of mathematical culture. The full text divides into four sections. The first part describes the theoretical basis of the concepts of mathematical culture for research and the significance of studying of math teachers'and students'concepts of mathematical culture in middle schools. The second part lists the research of the concepts of mathematical culture at home and overseas. In the third part, based on the literatures that existed, this paper uses several ways such as mathematical ability tests, a questionnaire survey and comparison tests and so on, to research and analyze the current situation of junior high school teachers'and students'concepts of mathematical culture. All questionnaire data have been processed and analyzed by the software Excel. In the fourth part, a number of recommendations are made on how to change the concepts of mathematical culture. An example of "solving application problems by using equations" is given in the 4th Chapter so as to explore how to infiltrate the mathematical culture in classroom teaching. It is concluded from the study that holding the concept of mathematical culture is significant in the mathematics education in teaching and learning. Teachers should take it seriously. Teachers should strive to improve their mathematical cultural accomplishment, and integrate and infiltrate mathematical cultural into the day-to-day teaching process, which will play an invaluable role in learning mathematics for the junior high school students (including learning other relevant disciplines in the future). |
