At present, a new round of curriculum reform is in the ascendant and it has become one of the important aims and a great challenge to the construction of school culture. At the same time, school culture is also a vehicle, support and prop for curriculum reform, pushing forward the process of curriculum reform. So seizing the opportunity of curriculum reform to analyze the current state and explore improving strategies for school cultural construction can help school develop their own individuality and characteristics and facilitate the development at a higher level.The thesis, first of all, interprets in detail the core perception and aims of the new curriculum reform and the essential conception and the component parts of school culture. On this basis the interrelationship of new curriculum and school cultural construction is discussed, developing the research from different angles, in all dimensions and at all levels.In this thesis, Jiangsu Yancheng Middle School, the one having a long history and a strong pull in the new curriculum reform, is taken as a sample for study. The thesis, by using different methods, such as the literature survey, questionnaires, action research, case studies, reflective review, observation, interview and so on, investigates its rich culture and outstanding achievements, studies the interaction between school culture and the new curriculum reform, analyses the advantages and problems and explores the improving strategies for school cultural construction in the new curriculum as a result.This thesis puts forward the improving strategies for school cultural construction in the new curriculum in three dimensions. Firstly, interpret the current cultural state and make clear the demands for the new curriculum cultural model. Secondly, analyse the improving strategies for cultural construction from the standpoint of school administrators, teachers and students one by one. Finally, discuss the improving strategies for cultural construction by going into the specific content of school culture in moral, systematic and material senses. This study will help school administrators, teachers and students of the sample school adapt quickly to the curriculum reform. It will lay a solid foundation for a coordinated and sustained development of school. It will act as the demonstration and radiating role in the surrounding areas and provide successful experience for modern school cultural construction in China's elementary education.
