Self-education plays a unique role in human progress, social development and enhancing people's subject-awareness, and it is an effective method in ideological and political education, which is an important link and effective for improving the quality of college students. Establishing self-education's core importance, strengthening self-education of university students, they will give full play to the dynamic role of self-education. Self-education will overcome many defects of the current course, really and effectively implement quality education and improve the quality and efficiency of education. The promotion of the students' all-round quality, their coordination and independent is the fundamental issue. Without self-education process, the aim of higher education will be difficult to achieve.At first, the article defined the meaning of self-education, and refers to ancient and modern philosophers' and educators' thought to analyze the meaning and characteristics of university students' self-education. Self-education is meaning that someone teaches himself, which demands subject to understand, control, consummate and surmount himself as object. Self-education means that student should take himself as object and control their own behavior in order to achieve the target. It is that college students in order to meet the needs of society to bring forward mission for himself, so he should understand, control and rebuild himself as object. By this way, college students can enhance and improve their quality of the self-conducted. Self education has the distinct characters, which contain combination of object and subject, self-education and school education, independence, go-aheadism, etc.Secondly, the article discusses the importance and necessity of university student to improve the capacity of self-education. Improve the capacity of self-education of university students is a guarantee for the goal of higher education and it is necessary for moral education. It is necessary for meeting the physical and mental development of university. At the same time, because traditional moral education has some disadvantages in content, method and result of education, and higher education develop greatly. it is necessary to improve the ability of self-education of university, which can make them adapt the changed situation. Furthermore, network becomes more and more important in our society, building life-long education system becomes very urgent too. These facts offer important theory foundations and real reasons.Finally, from point of the combination of the theory and practice the article raise and demonstrate the approach and exterior condition of enhancing the ability of students' self-education. To enhance awareness of self-education, it is necessary to guide college students in the right way, to stimulate them, and to establish the idea of "student-oriented" educational philosophy. At the same time, university should offer platform for the practice of self-education, such as student unions, student organizations, and encouraging students to participate in social practice actively, etc. To increase the capacity of self-education of university students, it needs the support of variety of external factors. Family education, school education, social education play the role of infection for college students to enhance the capacity of self-guided. Innovating the form of work management for college students in order to offer an institutional assure. Strengthening hard culture and soft culture of campus will offer a good environment and atmosphere for self-education.
