A Study Of The Appliance Of Soft Management In Student Management In Higher Institutions

With the impact of market economy, with the communication between eastern and western culture, with the development of web technology and with the expanding recruitment in higher institution, the thoughts and behaviors of college students has changed substantially, which is challenging college student management.The hard management, centered by system traditionally, can not settle the current problems existing in students management, which orders and conducts students from ups to downs on the basis of obligation restraint and discipline supervision by the use of teachers' authority under the vertical management structure of college, department and class. Coherently, soft management emerges.After investigating ten undergraduate classes of grade 2003 in NJTC and examining, counting and analyzing leader teachers' managing methods and their students' performance, the paper puts forth that the system-centered and order-featured management, on the basis of quantitative measurement, can not adapt itself to the current students management. The development of higher institutions, the demands of society and the changes of individual student has brought necessities of carrying out soft management among college students. Moreover, the rise of the managerial personnel' quality, the improvement of surrounding, college students' comparatively high quality and demand level has brought its practicability. Managerial personnel may apply some sorts of soft management without intention in their work, but it is not systematic. Somebody even thinks that soft management is to let students do what they want to do. These aren't the real appliance of soft management.The embodiment of the soft management appliance in higher institution is in creating people-oriented cultural environment, improving managerial personnel's self-managing ability, applying the methods of soft management and cultivating students' self-managing capability. Through case analysis of the appliance of soft management for individual student, the paper points out the amazing effect of emphasizing the soft factors such as respect, love, communication, trust, etc., which hard management can not attain.
