Managerial work for undergraduate affairs is an important component of higher education. In the past 20 years, it has been taken seriously by every university and it is a major track to implement the party's educational policy. With the development of the socialist market economic system, the higher education reform is carried out gradually. The traditional management of student affairs is very difficult to meet the requirement of current students. Therefore, it is necessary to re-design the current management stratifies. This thesis is focused on the feasibility study based on this kind of research background, which attempts to provide the reference for the innovation on managerial work for undergraduates through the management idea innovation and the management pattern reconstruction.This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part is the outline of the thesis. The second part reviews literatures in the area of management of undergraduate affairs. The third part presents the idea innovation of managerial work. It points out that the principles of idea innovations of the managerial work are the unity, openness and cooperation. The management is for the students, by the students and of the students. The recruitment and training of counselors play an important part during the innovative management. The fourth part discusses the innovative mechanism. In the Chinese universities, the management of student affairs is administrated by both the party and the president. It is also connected with other administrative divisions in the university. The innovative management mechanism is outlined as follows: the leadership which works for the students is in the center of the system and the student supervisory is base of the system, and the counselors are directly administrated by the party. The last part of the thesis presents the conclusion.It is critical to reform the current management strategies for student affairs in order to improve the quality of university education. It is also important to note that this is a system engineering to train qualified graduates for the development of social and economic of China.
