Private University In China At This Stage Positioning Study

The location of the private colleges is a very important issue and a difficult one as well in higher education study field. In the course of popularization of the higher education in China, the private colleges play an indispensable role. The problem of the location of the private-owned colleges makes an effect not only on the direction of future development of the private higher education but also on the consistent development of the higher education in China.Rely on the external request and the support of policies, the private colleges have a great promotion in both quantities and qualities. But because of the weak base and the lack of efficient supports from government, the private-owned colleges in China have stayed in the lower level all the time. In order to drive the private colleges to get a promotion and to be competitive in the higher education field, we have to reconfirm the location of them in two aspects, one is the guide of the government, and the other is the college themselves.The article tries to find out the common ground in the localization of the private colleges from two aspects, one is the government; the other is the college themselves. The private colleges in Shanghai are in good position in the countrywide, several typical private-owned colleges have been selected as examples to analysis the necessary elements that lead to the appropriate localization and to find out the internal and external elements that have the negative effect to the appropriate localization. On the basis, we should try to promote the appropriate localization of private colleges in two aspects, which is to promote the external environments and strengthen the internal governments as well.
