Physics education is one of the essential components of science education. In traditional physics teaching emphasis is only placed on knowledge and the development of scientific spirit is ignored. However, it is not proper to do so. Young students are the future of our home country and it is the development and promotion of scientific spirits that determine whether our country will be in an advantageous position in the fierce international competition, so it is necessary to cultivate young students' scientific spirits.The present research investigated some senior students with a questionnaire and the results show that they are low in the general level of scientific spirits. n view of senior students' existing state of scientific spirits, the researcher rethought profoundly about the present situation of physics teaching, and presented a brief overview of the existing researches both at home and abroad. The researcher probed into the connotative meaning of senior high school students' scientific spirits and the scientific-spirit educational function of the history of physics, based on Piaget's genetic epistemology and Recapitulation Theory of Education and. Then the researcher demonstrated the probability that senior high school students' scientific spirits can be developed through the infiltration of the history of physics into physics teaching. Furthermore, scientific spirits factors are excavated in the history of physics. Then in the following one-year experiment, the history of physics was infiltrated into the physics teaching. The pre-investigation of the students' scientific spirits were carried out at the beginning through a questionnaire. After analyzing the results of the pre-investigation, the history of physics was infiltrated in the physics teaching in the experiment based on the countermeasures in the infiltration of the history of physics in physics teaching, such as teaching principles, teaching approaches put forward and one case of developing scientific spirits in teaching practice were offered. At the end of the experiment the post-investigation was conducted. By analyzing the results of the two investigations, the researcher drew a tentative conclusion that the infiltration of the history of physics into senior physics teaching has a positive and significant effect on the development of students' scientific spirits. Finally, the researcher put forward a proposal that the history of physics should be infiltrated into senior physics teaching to cultivate students' scientific spirits.
