Study On The Current Situation, Problems Of Undergraduates' Employability And Corresponding Strategies In The Institutes Of Higher Learning

In the 1950s,research findings on employability were found in western countries.In the past decades,employability has been the research focus of human resources and management. Researches on employability invite constant changes with the times.In the 21st century, researches and practice of employability have been permeating through more fields.However, there exist varied definitions of employability owing to the diversified research perspectives by the scholars in different fields.In the light of foreign researches,the adjustment of employment policies adopted by the institutions of higher learning and difficult situation of employment after the college enrollment expansion,researchers of our country have been gradually concentrating on this field and introduced and modified definitions of employability by virtue of western scholars' conceptions and concrete situations in China.Currently,in the field of higher education,there is few unanimous definition of employability.The researches of cultivating undergraduate students' employability are only in its initial stage,which needs more improvement.When the popularization of higher education is on the way,undergraduate students' employment has been concerned by the system of higher education.Confronted by fierce market competition,how to improve undergraduate students' employment becomes crucial task of the institutions of higher learning.Meanwhile,undergraduate students' employability demanded by employers is affected by inclined employability of undergraduate students trained by the institutions of higher learning.Based upon the above,this thesis intends to research the present situation of undergraduate students in the workplace of Hebei Province and further study the relevant problems of the undergraduate students' employability.In accordance with the reviewed literature,the thesis firstly introduces the development of employment theories,the definitions of employability by experts at home and abroad and the components of employability,which lays the foundation for the later study.Secondly,this thesis theoretically illustrates the definition and the components of undergraduate students' employability.Concerning the scientific feature of the research, experts are interviewed and questionnaires are distributed to collect their authoritative opinions on undergraduate students' employability.After the data analysis,the definition and the components of undergraduate students' employability are made,which lays foundation for the later analysis of the current situation and problems of undergraduate students' employability.Moreover,in order to get an objective situation of undergraduate students' employability and strengthen the feature of scientific research,this thesis employs questionnaires to make a survey on the present situation of three-year-experience undergraduate students' employability in the workplaces of Hebei Province.After the analysis of the relevant data,the present situation of undergraduate students' employability is summarized.Advantages and disadvantages of undergraduate students' employability are concluded.And this thesis analyzes the reasons behind the situation.By the estimation of training undergraduate students' employability,some problems of training work in the institutions of higher learning are worked out.In the end,some strategies of training undergraduate students' employability are put forward with respect to the research findings and the deficiency of undergraduate students' employability in Hebei Province.As for the educational effect,it's suggested that training paradigm in the institutions of higher learning should be reformed.The teaching of major courses and practice courses should be further strengthened.And the course of whole-process job-hunting guide should also be focused.On the part of teachers,teacher education should be encouraged and quality of major teachers and the specialization of job-hunting guide teachers should be enhanced;on the part of students,students are advised to strengthen their communication with each other and cultivation of their psychological quality should be strengthened.
