The curriculum arrangement was the core of high school education plan. It represented the basic requirement from the society to the high school graduate, like knowledge structure and adaptation ability, etc. In recent years, accompanied by the implementation of China basic sport education reform, as the main course of high school sport teaching major, the gymnastic course exposed numbers of problem in its contents, education and examine methods, etc, that indicated the reform of high school sport teaching major course which aimed at training middle school sport teacher was became urgent. This presenting work targeted the content of high school sport teaching major gymnastic compulsory technique courses, systematically analyzed the historical development and change of China normal high school sport teaching major curricular design by literature searching and questionnaire survey, used middle school gymnastic teaching content as blueprint, tried to optimize course framework to fit the future requirement of high school sport teaching major gymnastic compulsory technique, to renew our teaching principle, exploit the setting-up exercise value of gymnastics, solve problems of recent gymnastic course design, provide a certain level reference value on present and future gymnastic curricular reform.Result of study: (1) Middle and primary school gymnastics courses are not well developed in China, the traditional high school courses were unpopular in middle schools. We must catch up the time, unite the experiences of curricular reform in other countries, boldly make innovation and reform, try to optimize the course content to have practical setting-up exercise value, fit the society requirement to train middle school teacher, guide high school sport teaching major gymnastic courses in to health development. (2) There were relatively big difference in the training purpose and curricular design of the sport teaching major course between China and other countries, in summary, China relatively less respect student, and lack course content flexibility in compare with other countries. In addition,it is suggestible to China high school sport teaching major gymnastic courses that other countries lay more attention on exploit elective course.(3) Chinese high schools tended to follow government documents, consider the teacher resources of themselves rather than the practical condition of their students when design curricular content.(4) Not enough attention was paid by high school sport teacher on China middle school and other countries'gymnastic curricular content, their theoretical learning could not serve gymnastic teaching.(5) The main contents of the optimized content should be rank order, setting-up exercises, we should intentionally exploit courses that benefits student physical quality, enforce the connection between high school and middle school gymnastic. Besides, high school sport teaching major student could further developed their major knowledge through extend course learning, to fit the further requirement to lead middle and primary school team training and gymnastic competition.
